Treating Horses
Horses generally respond well to the natural pain relief of Osteopathic treatment.
Osteopathic treatment can help to treat musculo-skeletal problems in horses, such as degenerative joint disease, tendon and ligament injuries, lameness of sometimes unknown causes.
Osteopathic treatment has also been known to help (calm) bad-tempered and difficult horses.
What conditions does it help?
- Equine Osteopathy helps gait / tracking problems
- Reduced performance
- Head / carriage problems
- Change in behavior
- Maintaining mobility in older horses
- Very good for horses with arthritic problems
- Aiding in rehabilitation after injuries
- Backache
- Lameness
- TMJ – jaw problems, difficulty chewing
As an Equine Osteopath when I visit your horse for the first time a full case history is taken.
Your horse is then given a full examination and will be asked to walk and trot up. The findings of this history and musculo-skeletal assessment will be analysed to determine a suitable treatment plan for your horse.
As an Equine Osteopath, I am trained to recognize and treat many causes of pain. The treatment may include stretching techniques, rhythmic passive joint movements, mobilization to improve joint mobility or high velocity thrust techniques.
